We fished south again today setting up in the low 50’s in 130 fow. The graph looked good when we started, but we didn’t get an early bite. By the time the fish started hitting we were out in 170 fow and the graph looked pretty clean. We hit a few fish after the sun came up, but no big morning flurry. We trolled NW out to 190 fow and worked back in to 130 fow. We didn’t find any hot spots, just one here one there. We had 11″ White DW Paddles/Pickled Sunshine Action Flys on our chute rigger & one out down and a 10″ White Slick Spin Doctor/Green UV Big Water Meat Rig on the other out down. We fished the Paddles between 115 & 160 feet down and the Spin Doctor/Big Water Rig 100 down. They all took fish. Our high wire divers were a 10″ Show Time Spin Doctor/Blue Moo Big Water Rig out 425 and a 10″ Black White Crush Spin Doctor/Moo Moo Big Water Rig out 400 on the other. Our low wires with 10″ White Crush Spin Doctors/Froggie Big Water Rigs were quiet most of the morning. At 1st mate Kevin’s suggestion I changed my low wire to a 10″ Black Slick Green Dot Spin Doctor/Mad Moo Big Water Meat Rig (pictured right) and dropped it back to 300 feet. It took 2 nice Kings later in the morning. Our best copper was a 450 with a 10″ Show Time Spin Doctor/Blue Moo Big Water Meat Rig. All our meat rigs are baited with Erie Dearie Premium Strips.

Good fishing today in Ludington. We fished south. It wasn’t hot & heavy, but we never went long without a bite on both trips. We worked 130 to 220 fow between the 49’s & 56’s. The fish are coming deep. We varied our rigger depths between 85 & 165 feet with most of fish taken between 115 & 160 ft. down. We tried a few Spin Doctor/Meat Rig combos, but Dreamweaver 11″ White Paddles and Pickled Sunshine Action Flys were our best set ups. We did take 1 King on a 11″ Green Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly. Our wire divers were good. On our highs we had a 10″ Chrome Kevorkian White Crush Spin Doctor/UV On Ice Big Water Rig out 370 on one and a 10″ Black White Crush Spin Doctor/Moo Moo Big Water Rig out 400 on the other. Our lows were 10″ White Crush Spin Doctors/Froggie Big Water Meat Rigs. One was out 235 and the other 240 feet. We ran 350 & 400 coppers on our morning trip and 350’s, a 400 & a 450 on the afternoon trip. The 350’s went a few times on the morning trip, but they didn’t take a hit on the afternoon trip. We had a Captains Choice Blue Splatter Back Cut Plug on one 350 and a 8″ Show Time Spin Doctor/Blue Moo Big Water Rig on the other. Our hot copper on the P.M. trip was a 10″ Show Time Spin Doctor/Blue Moo Big Water Rig on a 450 copper. Our 400 was a 10″ Chrome Kevorkian White Crush Spin Doctor/UV On Ice Big Water Rig. It went 4 times. We use Erie Dearie Premium Strips on all our meat rigs.
