Fished south again today. There were 3 to 4 ft. waves, but our crew wanted to fish so we went. We set up in 130 fow and trolled nw to 170 fow. Our 11″ White Crush DW Paddles and Pickled Sunshine Action Flys were hot today. Just like yesterday we had one 10 feet off the bottom on the chute rigger and one between 120 & 140 ft. on an out down. Those were our two hot rods. We ran the same rigs as yesterday on our wires, a 10″ Show Time Spin Doctor/Blue Moo Big Water Rig & a 10″ Black White Crush Spin Doctor/Moo Moo Big Water Rig on our highs and 10″ White Crush Spin Doctors/Froggie Big Water Rigs on both low wires. The highs were out 325 & 400 and the lows 170 & 300. With the big waves and our wires out so far we only ran 1 copper off each side, a 350 with a Blue Splatter Back Captains Choice Cut Plug and a 550 with a 10″ Black Green Spin Doctor/Moo Moo Big Water Rig. They each went once.
Archives for August 2012
We have been fishing south the last couple of days between 120 and 190 fow. Yesterday our riggers were super hot. We had 11″ White Crush Dreamweaver Paddles and Pickled Sunshine Action Flys on all 3 riggers. Today we started out with the same set up and only had 1 bite on a Paddle. We heard reports of other boats doing well on them, but they didn’t go for us. They have been so productive that even though they didn’t go today we will still start out with at least 2 of them in our spread tomorrow. We had a Blue Splatter Back Captains Choice Cut Plug on a 300 copper that took 3 fish for us. We had 10″ Spin Doctors and Big Water Meat Rigs on our other 3 coppers, a 300 & two 350’s. Our wire divers have been good. We have been running a 10″ Show Time Spin Doctor/Blue Moo Big Water Rig 325 out on one high wire and a 10″ Black White Crush Spin Doctor/Moo Moo Big Water Rig out 285 on the other high. We have 10″ White Crush Spin Doctors/Froggie Big Water Rigs on both our low wires, one out 170 and the other out 100. We use Erie Dearie Premium Strips on all our meat rigs.
