We took 4 veterans out today for the Fish On for Freedom event. It had been a few days since we fished and with the high winds the last few days we were uncertain witch way to go. We opted to go north to familiar territory. We set up off the bank. Surface temp was 57 and it was 54 down 60 feet on our Fish Hawk. We marked some fish but went a long time without a bite. Not sure if was because of the 6:00 a.m. start or they just didn’t like what we were trying to feed them. The other boats we were communicating with were having a tough time getting bites too. We peeled off the bank and trolled west to deeper water. We took 3 Lake Trout, all 150 feet plus deep. First one came on the chute rigger with an 11″ White Crush DW Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly. The next one came on a 10″ Lake Trout Candy Spin Doctor/Chrome Yellow Spin-N-Glo. The last one took an 11″ DW Chrome Two Face Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly. We took a Steelhead on a 175 copper with a Super Slim NBK and we took a small King on a SS Orange Slice on a 10 color core. Five bites and five fish. Thank you to the sponsors and volunteers that made this event possible. We use Morgan’s Tackle copper and wire and pull our lead cores and coppers with Dreamweaver Ninja Boards.
