We participated in the Fish On For Freedom Veterans event today out of Ludington. Fishing has been poor lately and it was slow today. We fished hard this morning and could only come up with 6 bites and 2 fish. The fish we did land were nice Kings. Our biggest weighed in at 17.0 lbs. and the smaller King was 11 lbs. Our big King came on a 7.5 color core with a Jordo Stingray. We hit 2 fish on a 250 copper with a standard Spotted Blue Dolphin. We boated 1 and lost 1. We lost a Laker on a high wire diver ticking bottom with an 8″ Chrome Spin Doctor/Chrome Blue Glow Wing Spin-N-Glo and missed 1 on a high wire with a 10″ Gold Spin Doctor/Custom Spin-N-Glo. We missed a bite on our chute rigger down 70 on a small Dreamweaver White Slick Flip Fin Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly. The fin was not deployed. We started in 70 feet of water a little south and ended up working out as deep as 150 feet. Both our Trout bites were in 80 feet of water. Our King bites were in 130. It was cold and foggy when we started out, but the fog cleared, the sun came out and it turned into a nice morning on the Lake. Thank you to the sponsors and volunteers that made this event possible.
