I warned todays charter on Friday that fishing has been slow, but the father and son duo wanted to spend Father’s Day fishing. So, we headed north of Ludington to try our luck. We set up in 180 feet of water between the Bath House and the Point and trolled northwest. The surface temp was 49 degrees and it was 44 degrees down 50 feet at our Fish Hawk probe. No bites while we were setting lines. Our graph was showing bait and fish on the bottom in 200 fow of water but nothing higher. We dropped our chute rigger with an 11″ Dreamweaver White Slick Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly down to just off the bottom and hit a Lake Trout. It escaped about half way to the boat. We trolled out to 400 fow without another bite, so we turned east toward the Point. We hit a double on Steelhead on our in troll. One on a 2 color core with a Super Slim Blue Slice and the other on a 3 color core with a Super Slim Double Orange Crush. We boated one and lost the other at the back of the boat. The Double Orange Crush Super Slim on a 3 color took another Steelhead later in the morning. We turned back west when we hit 180 fow and took a Steelhead on a Slide Diver with a 50 ft. lead out 85 with a Ruby Red Super Slim in 320 fow. We took a Coho on an SS Chilly Wille free sliding above another SS Chilly Willie down 50 ft. We landed a King on a 150 copper on a Mag Fuzzy Bear Half Bloody Nose. We lost a nice fish on a mag Spotted Blue Dolphin on a 350 copper and took a Coho on a 225 copper with a standard Spotted Blue Dolphin. We had a total of 9 bites and landed 6 fish. Most of our action came between 320 and 380 feet of water off the Point. The surface temp was 53 and the down temp at 50 ft. was 47 degrees when we pulled lines. We use Morgan’s Tackle copper and wire.
