We fished north of Ludington setting up in 160 feet of water. Surface temp was 64 degrees. It was 56 down 80 feet on our Fish Hawk. The screen was clean on our graph. We put it on a northeast troll. We started marking bait and fish as we got a little further north. Our first fish took a Yeck Wart Frog stacked 15 feet above an SS Green Hulk on our port out down set at 100. It was a smaller size King. Our 7.5 color core with a Yeck Fireball took off with a big fish. We boated the fish which was a mature King. The down temp kept dropping the further north we trolled. By the time we reached the Point it was 46 down 80 feet. We took a 5 lb. Jack King on a SS Soda stacked 30 feet above a mag Fuzzy Bear Soda down 130 on our starboard out down. We took another King on it a little later in the trip. Our biggest King came on a high wire diver out 330 with a 10″ White Crush Green Scale Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine DW Meat Rig. We missed one on a low wire diver out 230 with a 10″ Kevin’s Girlfriend Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine DW Meat Rig. A fish slammed our port low wire diver out 140 with an 8″ Black Slick Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine DW meat rig but didn’t hook up. Our 7.5 color core with the Fireball went again. This time it was a nice Steelhead. While we were fighting the Steelhead a 350 copper with a Fireball went, 1st mate Abe put that one out. It took about a 10 lb. King. A storm was fast approaching from the west, so we pulled lines early. A Lake Trout was riding on our chute rigger down 140 with an 11″White Slick Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly. We got a little wet, but it was worth it. We use Morgan’s Tackle copper and wire and pull our lead cores and coppers with Dreamweaver Ninja Boards. We use Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs.
