We headed back up north after the good bite on Thursday. We set up off the bank. Didn’t get a temp reading until we had a few rods in. Surface temp was 58 degrees, but it was 39.9 down 50 feet on our Fish Hawk. The picture on our screen didn’t look good. We took it out a little deeper and took our first fish on a 5 color core with an SS Burnt Bloody Nose.
We lost a fish on a 3 color core with a Double Orange Crush.
We took an 18 lb. King on a high wire Ninja diver out 120 with an 8″ White Slick Flip Fin Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly. Mised one on a 7.5 color core with a Steelie Ranger. Very slow after that. We put it on a west troll taking out to 500 + feet of water. Lost a nice Steelhead at the back of the boat on a Modified Carmel Dolphin out 140 on a high wire Ninja diver. Took a King on our port out down set at 55 with a pair of SS Rod Man’s.
Fish took the main bait. It went again at 45 down this time a Steelhead took the free slider. The weather was great and the lake was calm. Just wish we could have had more cooperation from the fish.
We use and recommend Nova Tackle Deep Water Series Trolling Rods, Dreamweaver Ninja Boards and Divers, and Magnum MeatlZ Downriggers and Copper.
