We fished north today setting up off the shelf. Surface temp was 61 and it was 41.2 down 60 feet on our Fish Hawk. First Mate Abe set the chute rigger with an 8″ White Crush Flip Fin Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly stacked with a Super Slim Soda down 70 feet. I just had told our crew we weren’t marking any fish when a fish took the stack. It got off at the back of the boat. Abe was setting his out down with a pair of SS Half Green Jeans when a big King hit the main bait when he was letting it down. That one got off too. We had 2 bites on a 3 color core with a Yeck Fireball. Three bites on a 5 color core with a Yeck Double Orange Crush. We took a King on a 10 color core with an SS Half Green Jeans. We missed a fish on a 5 color core with a Chrome Red Head #3 Plug. We doubled up with a pair of mature Kings on our high wire divers. Port was out 150 with a White Slick Flip Fin/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly, fin not deployed. Starboard was out 135 with a Chrome White Crush Green Dot Flip Fin/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly, fin deployed. While those 2 were on our starboard low wire out 85 with an 8″ Chrome Frog Flip Fin/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly hooked up with a big fish, but that one got away. We had a couple spoon bites on a 200 copper but didn’t get either one. Starboard out down with a pair of SS Sodas went twice. The first time they were down 55 and later down 70. Both times the fish hit the stacks. We hit a double as we were pulling lines. A mature King hit a high wire diver out 125 with a Custom Chrome Flip Fin/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly. It took out a lot of wire and was on for a while, but it made one last long run and got off. A 250 copper with that same Custom Flip Fin /Fly set up that went 3 times. Two escaped but we boated a nice Steelhead right after we lost the King on the high diver. So, we ended the trip on a high note. We run Morgan’s copper and wire and use Dreamweaver Deeper Divers, Dreamweaver Ninja Boards and Dreamweaver Premium Strips in our meat rigs.
