Heavy boat traffic this morning. Everybody wants in on the action. We hit a few early but didn’t the big early bite. Our port 7.5 color core went twice with a Steely Ranger. Starboard 5 color with a Goat got hit by a Steelhead that got away. Starboard 7.5 core took our biggest King on a Mini Pink Dot Captain’s Choice Cut Plug.
We took another big King on a 10 color core with the new Mini Soda Captain’s Choice Cut Plug.
Starboard 225 copper with an 8″ Chrome Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly went once. Starboard 275 copper with an 8″ Green Dragon Slayer Flip Fin Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly took a big King. Port 350 copper with an 8″ White Charlie Special Flip Fin Paddle/Purple Mirage Action Fly went twice. Not much action on our riggers early. Starboard out down set at 45 with a pair of SS Sodas went once.
Later the starboard out down set at 85 with an 8″ Blue Dragon Slayer Flip Fin Paddle/Glow Blue Bubble Action Fly went with a nice King that got off at the back of the boat. We missed a fish on our port out down set at 100 with an 8″ White Charlie Special/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly stacked with an SS Rodman 20 feet above. The fish hit the stack. Took a King on the chute rigger with an 11″ Black Slick DW Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly set at 170. A little later we dropped it down to 195
and took another King. Our divers were good. Port high wire Ninja Diver out 275 with an 8″ White Slick Flip Fin Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly went once. Starboard high wire Ninja Diver out 150 went once early and 2 more times out 225 with an 8″ Green Dot White Crush Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly. Port low wire out 160 went once with a 10″ White Crush Green Scale Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine DW Meat Rig. Our best rod was our starboard low wire diver. It went twice out 85 early then 4 more times out 150 with an 8″ Black Slick Spin Doctor/Isotope DW Meat Rig.
It went twice for us yesterday. We boated 1 and lost 1. We switched the hook out for an Atomic VQ tandem single hook rig pictured below. Today we boated every fish that hit it. Our crew did a good job on the rods for their first time Salmon fishing.
We use and recommend Nova Tackle Deep Water Series Trolling Rods, Dreamweaver Ninja Boards, Divers, & Premium Meat Strips, and Magnum MeatlZ Downriggers & Copper.
