7-26-12 Fishing Report

We fished doubles Monday & Tuesday and a morning trip yesterday. Made a note to myself not to book 2 doubles right after the tournament anymore. Was so tired yesterday that I didn’t get out a report. We had a last minute cancellation for today so 1st mate Kevin and I got some much needed rest. As you can see from the photos fishing has been great with lots of limit catches. We have been fishing north of Ludington since the tournament. We have been running glow spoons on our riggers first thing in the morning then switching over to flashers & meat rigs when the bite slows. We’ve been staring right out with 10″ Spin Doctors and Big Water Meat Rigs baited with Erie Dearie Premium Strips on our wire divers. We’ve been running 1 copper on each side, a 200 or 250, with plugs and then adding more coppers when the morning bite is over. We used to run a lot of Ace Hi plugs on our coppers, but the Captains Choice Cut Plugs have been out catching the Ace Hi’s. The Natural Glow has been especially good. They have been taking fish for us all day and on the afternoon trips too. We’ve been starting out with a 10″ Dark Green Blue Bubble Slick Spin Doctor/Green Mile Big Water Meat Rig on one high wire diver and a 10″ Show Time Spin Doctor/Blue Moo Big Water Rig on the other. On the low wires we’ve got a 10″ Mountain Dew Spin Doctor/Cold Steel Big Water Rig on one and a 10″ Dark Green White Crush Spin Doctor/Moo Moo Big Water Rig on the other. If the Dark Green/Moo Moo slows down we’ve been moving the Show Time/Blue Moo to the low position and putting on a 10″ Live Wire Spin Doctor/Green UV Big Water Rig on the high wire. We’ve taken a lot of fish on that combo the last 3 days. Hope the good fishing continues.
