The fishing continues to be good in Ludington. Lots of fish being taken out deep from the 35’s to the 50’s west and from the 55’s to the 03’s north. I know thats a big area, but there are a lot of fish out there. We stayed in on the bank today fishing between 90 and 130 FOW. The morning bite was slow. We hit a few fish early, just enough to keep us in there. There were reports on the radio of a couple boats hitting fish in the 34’s & 35’s in the 00’s to the 03’s so most of the boats left the bank. The water was not all that warm. It was 62 on the surface and 45 down 50 feet. We were running 5, 8 & 10 color cores and a little later in the morning 200 coppers. Our out downs were set at 50 & 55 and the chute rigger was 65 down. Once again our high wire divers out 120 & 130 feet took the bulk of our fish. If you follow this report you know we’ve been running the same 10″ Spin Doctor/Big Water Tackle Meat Rig’s baited with Erie Dearie Herring Strips on them for quite a while now. We arn’t going to mess with success. Usually the Mountain Dew/Cold Steel combo takes the most hits but today the Glow Blade Blue Bubble/Blue Moo Big Water Rig out 120 was by far our best rod. Our low wires out 85 & 100 with the Show Time Spin Doctor/Moo Moo Meat Rig and a Blue Casper Kingfisher Flasher/Blue Moo Big Water Rig took several fish too. Our 200 coppers, one with a Fuzzy Bear Frozen Veggie and the other with a Golden Retriver Kingfisher Flasher/Fourth Of July Big Water Rig, each took fish. A 5 color core with a pink glow plug took 2 Kings. I think the reason we did so well was lack of boat traffic. We didn’t mark a lot of fish and we didn’t mark any bait on the bank.
