We ran to our planned starting spot and found 43 degree surface water. We continued running until the temp started to warm and set up. First rod in went. It was the port 3 color core with a Mini Natural Glow DW Plug. That one got away. Starboard 3 color core with the same plug went and we got that one.
Starboard 1 color went with a Mini DW Pink Sides Plug. Port 5 color went with a Mini Pink Dot DW Plug. Starboard 5 color went 1 time with a Mini Soda Plug. Our port high Ninja Diver out 90 went 3 times with an 8″ White Slick Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly. Our chute rigger down 20 went with a 2 color core and a full size DW Natural Glow Cut Plug.
We moved out deeper and our port 10 color went 2 times with an 8″ White Charlie Special Spin Doctor/Purple Mirage Action Fly. Our port 250 copper went 4 times with an 8″ Closer Spin Doctor/Red Pepper Meat Rig. Port 5 color went 2 times with a Gold Fireball. Starboard 5 color took a Steelhead on a SS Steelie Stomper.
Starboard 7.5 took a Coho on a DW Rasta Goose. Starboard low wire diver out 150 went 1 time with a 10″ Closer Spin Doctor/Red Pepper Meat Rig. Starboard out down set at 70 went 1 time with an 8″ Charlie Special Flip Fin Paddle/Sweet Pea Fly stacked with a SS Rodman. It was a challenge with the fog and heavy boat traffic, but our crew managed to take home a cooler full of good eating filets. We use and recommend Nova Tackle Deep Water Series Trolling Rods, Dreamweaver Ninja Boards, Divers & Premium Meat Strips, and Magnum MetalZ Downriggers & Copper.
