Went north today. Surface temp was 69.5 and 54.8 60 feet down on our Fish Hawk. We hit a couple fish early. One on a 5 color core with a Double Orange Crush and one on a 10 color core with a small Pink Plug. The fish on the plug acted like it was foul hooked. It turned out to be a mature King that one of the trebles hooked in the side of the face. We had to back the speed right down and deploy both bags. The Double Orange Crush on the 5 color went 2 more times during the trip. We pulled the bags and bumped up the speed and the rods started going.
It was all boards and divers, mostly boards. A 175 copper with an SS Shelly Snack, a 225 copper with a DW Soda, and a 250 with a mag Half Green Jeans Fuzzy Bear all went on the starboard side. On the port side a 7.5 color core with an SS A Bomb went twice, a small Gray Ghost plug on a 250 took a mature King and a mag Fuzzy Bear Blue Slice on a 300 copper took another King.
A low wire diver out 120 with an 8″ Chrome Frog Flip Fin Paddle/ Pickled Sunshine Action Fly went and so did a high wire diver out 200 with an 8″ Wonder Bread Flip Fin Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly. By the time we passed the point we had 10 fish in the boat. We turned back south and trolled for 3 miles without a bite. We turned back north and put it on a northwest troll.
It took a while before a mature King took a high wire diver out 220 with an 8″ Charlie’s Pride Flip Fin Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly. Our other high wire diver out 250 with a 8″ Chrome Two Face Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine DW Meat Rig went twice. We lost a Steelhead on a 5 color core with the Double Orange Crush. The fins were all deployed on our Flip Fin Paddles. It was a fun trip with a group that has been fishing with us for many years. We use Morgan’s Tackle copper and wire, Dreamweaver Deeper Divers, Dreamweaver Ninja Boards, and Dreamweaver Premium Strips in our meat rigs.
