We fished offshore today setting up in 220 feet of water. Surface temp was 49 degrees, and it was 46.8 40 feet down on our Fish Hawk. There was an offshore wind and it was a little cold setting our lines. We put it on a 320 troll. First rod to go was a 5 color core with a Gold Fireball. While we were fighting that fish our starboard out down set at 45 went with a pair of SS Chilly Willies. We took a nice Coho on the main bait. When the angler went to get a picture, the fish squirmed out of his hands and went overboard, bummer. We did get the other fish, and it was another Coho. We hit a couple more fish and landed them both. The action slowed so we turned back for an in troll.
A big fish hit our starboard high wire diver with an 8″ White Slick Flip Fin DFW Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly. After a pretty good fight, it got off. We turned and made a long out troll and only took one fish. It was a King that took a Gold Glow Spoon on a 7.5 color core. The down temp at 40 feet kept getting colder on the out troll and with our lack of bites we turned back on an in troll. We took 2 more fish pulling lines. Our other bites were on a 3 color Core with a Gold Double Orange Crush, a 250 coper with an SS Spotted Majic Man, a 250 copper with an 8″ Senica Special Flip Fin Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly with Lime Green Beads, a 10 color core with a SS Blue Coyote, and a 5 color core with a Gold SS Rasta Goose. Both Flip Fins had the fin deployed. We use Morgan’s Tackle copper and wire, Dreamweaver Deeper Divers, and Dreamweaver Ninja Boards.
