Fished north of Ludington today. Our first bite came in the dark on a pair of Fuzzy Bear Yellowtail spoons set at 75 on the chute rigger. We had a mag on the bottom and standard stacked 10 feet above. It hit the stack but got off. Our port high wire diver out 165 with a 10″ White Crush Black Dot Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Dreamweaver Meat Rig was next and took a nice King. Our 200 copper with a regular DW Bloody Nose took off with a mature King. We got that one too. Three bites and 2 Kings in the boat before daylight. We rode for a little before we took another King on a 10 color core on a plug. We only had 1 rod go twice. It was a high wire diver out 145 with a 10″ Live Wire Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Dreamweaver Meat Rig. It took 2 mature Kings and is pictured below. We had a pair of Chilly Willy’s set at 60 riding all morning with out a bite. They have been good to us so I let them ride a little longer than I would on any other spoons. Finally I pulled them only to find a small Coho hanging on the standard size spoon on the bottom. We tried several different combos on our starboard out down. We took a hit an 8″ White Slick Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly but it didn’t stay on very long. We ended up with an 8″ UV Wonder Bread Spin Doctor/Blue Bubble Action Fly on it , pictured below, and it took our biggest King as we were getting ready to pull lines at the end of the trip. It felt good being back up north and really good connecting on some big hard fighting Kings.
