After a 5 day Mother Nature imposed lay off, it was good to be back on the water. We didn’t know what to expect after all the wind and a full moon. We knew the water would be warm, but we didn’t plan on 61 degree water down 100 feet. The fish didn’t seem to mind. Port 5 color core went 1 time with a Double Orange Crush. Port 7.5 went 1 time with a Fireball. Starboard 175 copper 1 time with a Mini Pink Dot DW Plug. Port high wire diver out 250 went 2 times with an 8″ White Slick Paddle/Glow Fly. Port low wire out 150 went 2 times with an 8″ White Slick Flip Fin Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly. Starboard high diver went 2 times out 270 with an 8″ Dream Catcher Spin Doctor/Glow Little Boy Blue Fly then 1 more time with an 8″ White Dagger Spin Doctor/Glow Blue Bubble Fly. Starboard low wire out 170 went 1 time with a 10″ Dream Catcher Spin Doctor/Prototype Glow Little Boy Blue DW Meat Rig. It went 2 more times with a 10″ White Slick Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly. Port out down went 2 times set at 70 and 1 time 90 with a UV Green Jeans and a SS UV Green Jeans stacked 15 feet above the main bait.
The fish took the stack every time. Starboard out down set a 90 went 3 times with a pair of SS Sodas. Our best rod was our chute rigger down 100 with an 11″ White Slick DW Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly, pictured below. We had an SS Half Hulk stacked 15 above the Paddle. It went at least 7 times, only 1 hit on the stack.
It was nice to have Mother Nature, and the fish cooperate for our Indiana crew. We use Dreamweaver Deeper Divers, Dreamweaver Ninja Boards, Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs, and Morgan’s Tackle copper and wire. Just had a cancelation for Saturday 9/13 and Sunday 9/14. Fishing is still good. Give me a call at 231 425-8723 if you would like to get out on the Big Lake!
