We fished north of Ludington today. We had a 2 boat charter with Hiatus Charters. Our group was delayed this morning and we didn’t get away from the dock until 5:45. No early morning bite for us. We had all our rods set when the chute rigger with a 11″ White Crush Paddle / Pickled Sunshine Action Fly took a vicious hit. It was the 23.78 lb. King pictured below. It took about 30 minutes land that fish. Next King came on a high wire diver out 135 with a 10″ Blue Bubble Spin Doctor/Blue Fairways Strong Fly. There was heavy boat traffic north today. We headed out deep to avoid the crowd and ended up catching some nice Lake Trout. Three of our big ones came on a 10″ Chrome Spin Doctor/Chrome Chartreuse WhirlyGig down 180 ft. on an out down. We took two more Trout on a tin can dodger/Green Chartreuse Spin-N-Glo.

We fished north of Ludington again today. We tried to set up on a north troll, but the strong east wind made it tough. The down temp brake was at 65 feet. Our first bite came on a Green Black Ladder Back Dreamweaver Captains Choice Cut Plug set at 55 feet. It was a King and it got off. A Natural Glow Captains Choice Plug on a 175 copper took a hit but it didn’t hook up. A 10″ White Crush Green Scale Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Dreamweaver Meat out 185 on a high wire took our next bite but it got off too. We didn’t get another bite until we were at the point. We took a nice Coho on a glow spoon stacked 10 feet above a big White Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly. Our Big King came on a Black Mamba Kingfisher/Moo Moo Big Water Tackle Meat Rig 80 down on the chute rigger. While we were fighting that one a smaller King took a 10′ White Crush Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine DW Meat Rig on a 250 copper. We put it on a south west troll near thend of the trip and hit 4 more fish, boating 3 of them. We use Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs and Morgan’s Tackle copper on all my copper rods.
