We fished south of Ludington today between 70 and 95 feet of water. We had 9 rods targeting Lake Trout and 6 fishing the top 40 feet hoping for a Steelhead, King, or Brown. We caught 2 Steelhead on a 1 color core with a Gold Craig’s Steelhead Super Slim. We had a 400 copper out with a dodger and green & yellow Spin-N-Glo take a surprise King that weighed 22 lbs., our biggest fish so far this season. Our first thought was that our rig was hung on the bottom. First mate Austin grabbed the rod and said “That’s not bottom”. How right he was. The King gave Courtney quite a battle. Lots of boat traffic today and I think it slowed the action. Our wire divers fished on or near the bottom were once again our best rods.

6-27-16 Fishing Report

We fished south of Ludington today. The west wind made for tough trolling. It was hard to keep the boat straight and maintain a good speed. We fished between 70 and 110 feet of water. We started in 70 and the bottom temp was good but later in the morning the water warmed and we had to move out deeper. Our wire divers fished on or near the bottom took most of our fish today. Our dodgers/spin-n-glos took a couple more than our 8″ Chrome Spin Doctors/WhirlyGigs.
