We had a short four hour mid morning charter today. Our crew didn’t care for our usual starting time and opted to leave the dock at 8:15 a.m. We headed southwest out of Ludington setting up in 70 feet of water (fow) in the 53’s. Our first rod out, a 3 color core with a Super Slim Starburst spoon, hit a fish and it was game on. It was a Steelhead that got off near the back of the boat after a long fight. We trolled pretty much straight south down into the 51’s. We had decent action hitting fish on a 7 color core with a Super Slim Wreaking Ball, our other 3 color core with a Goldie Locks Super Slim, our out down at 40 feet and our chute rigger set at 56 ft. The further south we trolled the warmer the surface temp eventually hitting 58 degrees. We swung out on our north troll. We hit several fish between 80 & 90 fow. Our out down at 40 ft. with a pair of Yeck Wart Frogs took 2 Kings and the chute rigger with a 8″ White Crush Spin Doctor/ Pickled Sunshine Action Fly took a nice King. Our 2 color core with a Yeck Fire Ball also took a big King. We only took 1 fish on meat, a good size King on a 10″ Yellow Sparkle Spin Doctor/UV On Ice Big Water Meat Rig, on a 200 copper. Our cores weren’t hitting many fish towards the middle of the trip, but we were having enough action on our other rods that we didn’t check them for pups. When we were pulling lines we had 5 small fish between 8 & 12 ” on our cores. Our boards were tracking good so we didn’t suspect the draggers. We pulled lines at 11:15 heading back to the dock with some nice fish and a happy crew.

Fished with the Dreamweaver crew today. We started n the high 55’s southwest of the harbor in 80 feet of water (fow) in the warmer water and trolled ssw. The morning started out slow. We hit 2 fish early then went quite a while without a bite. The action started t pick up about 8:30. We ended up trolling east and west in the 56’s between 100 and 120 fow across the temp break that was there. On the warm side it was 54 degrees and the cold side was 44. We were hitting the smaller Kings & Steelhead on the warm side and the bigger Kings on the cold side. Our most productive rods were our 3 color & 5 color cores. Our 3’s were Super Slim Starbursts and on the 5’s were Super Slim Silver Hit Men. Our speed was on the hot side so we didn’t have much action on our wire divers and coppers with flashers & meat rigs. We only had 1 rigger bite. We took a nice Steelhead on and out down set at 23 ft. on a Supper Slim Get’er Done. It was definitely a Super Slim Day for us.
