We fished southwest of Ludington today. There were quite a few boats in the area between the pier heads and the project from 40 to 120 feet of water (fow). We set up in 70 fow and trolled out to 100 on our first pass. Our first bites came on an out down set at 50 feet with a pair of glow spoons. We took 3 of our biggest fish on a high wire diver out 120 with a 10″ Kevin’s Girlfriend Spin Doctor/Green Mile Big Water meat Rig and Erie Dearie Meat. We lost a big King on the chute rigger down 60 with a 10″ Glow Blade Spin Doctor/Green Mirage Strong Fly. We took another big one on a 10 color core with a regular size Dreamweaver Beefeater spoon. No plug bites for us today, but several boats reported they were having some success with them. We stayed between the pier heads and the project all morning. The boats that ran offshore to where we have been fishing reported that it was slow again today.

Tough fishing today. We had a great day yesterday so headed southwest out of Ludington today to the same area hoping to duplicate yesterdays action. We set up in 180 feet of water (fow) and trolled southwest out to 420 fow. The morning didn’t start out too bad, we took a couple of Steelhead on our 40 & 60 down riggers. The waves were building and were 2 to 4 feet high. We took a couple more fish both on a 10 color core with a regular size Fuzzy Bear Hot Rod spoon. We took 1 more fish on our out down set at 40 ft. then the bites stopped. We were working over the same area where we have been taking our fish the last few days. Other boats out there weren’t having much success either. The consensus seemed to be that the fish were there, but they just weren’t biting.
