Heavy fog today on Lake Michigan. We headed north hoping to find some warm water north of Big Sable Point. We ran all the way to the 05’s and the surface temp kept getting colder the further north we went. It was 45.9 on our Fish Hawk 840 at 05:30 so we turned back south and set up south of the Point in 120 feet of water (fow). The surface temp was 49.9. We didn’t have half our rods set when a low wire diver out 70 ft. with a 10″ White Crush Spin Doctor/Froggie Big Water Meat Rig fired. While that fish was still on the other low wire diver with a 10″ Kevin’s Girlfriend Spin Doctor/Green Mile Big Water Rig took off. That one got off. Then the high Slide Diver back 110 ft. with a regular size Dreamweaver Lemon Lime spoon started screaming out line. That one got off too. The first one finally came to the boat. It was an 18 lb. King. We got the rest of rods set with no more action. A half hour went by before hit another fish. It was a small King on a 3 color with a SOG Super Slim spoon. That rig went two more times but we didn’t land either one. We ended up with 9 fish on, but only boated 4 of them. They just didn’t want to stay hooked. We got as far south as the 01’s and as far north as 03:50. We worked between 110 and 150 fow.

7-2-13 Fishing Report
Fishing was tough today. We headed southwest out of Ludington harbor and set up in 70 feet of water (fow) in the low 55’s and put it on a 240 troll. Went out to 150 fow without a bite. Trolled back in to 80 fow still no bites. We were marking a few fish on the bottom in 100 fow so we decided to try for some Lake Trout. As we switching over our rods for trout fishing a small King hit a Super Slim SOG spoon 110 ft. out on a Slide Diver. We boated it and the skunk was out! We put down our trout gear and bounced bottom trying to get some more fish. We boated 6 Lakers, but two of them were below the 20″ size limit and had to be returned to the lake to grow another couple of inches. We took one more small king on a 3 color core with a Super Slim Red Devil. We are hoping for the wind to blow from the south so the water will warm up and we can start catching some big Kings again.
