We fished north of Ludington this morning on a 5 hour trip. We set up a couple miles south of the Bath House off the Bank. The surface temp was 52 degrees and 44 degrees down 45 feet. Our first fish took a mag Spotted Blue Dolphin on a 225 copper.
Most of our bites came on our coppers and lead cores. Several of board bites hit, pulled out a little line, and were gone. We took fish on a 3 color core with a Super Slim Double Orange Crush. A 5 color core with a Double Orange Lazer SS went twice. Our other 5 color with a Yeck Fireball took a Steelhead. An SS Green Hulk on a 7.5 color core took a nice King and a Steelie Ranger on our other 7.5 took a Steelhead and a King. An SS Coyote on a 10 color went twice and a mag Blue Spotted Dolphin on a 250 went twice
. An SS Spotted Magic Man out 175 on a Slide Diver with a 50 ft. lead took a fish. Our other Slide Diver out 150 with a 50 ft. lead with a Lance’s Two Face went once and 2 more times with a Stingray Modified Blue Coyote. A big King hit low wire diver out 100 with a Blue Dragon Slayer/Blue Bubble Action Fly but it got away. We had 2 rigger bites. The first was on a Blue Slice free sliding above a Bloody Nose down 48 ft. The second was on a standard DW Chilly Willie down 53 ft. We took a Coho on a SS Chilly Wille on a 7.5 color core later in the morning. We use Morgan’s Tackle copper and wire. The Lake was flat, and it was a perfect morning to be fishing out of Ludington.

We missed a fish on a 2 color core with a Super Slim Blue Slice. A Steelhead hit a Super Slim Double Orange Crush on a 3 color core. A Coho took a Half A Snack on our other 3 color core. A big King smoked our 200 copper with a mag Fuzzy Bear Half Bloody Nose pictured below. I put dots on it with a black marker. After a long fight we boated the 26.92 lb. King. It weighed 27.14 when we put it in the cooler but was a little lighter when it was weighed at Captain Chucks. It is currently the heaviest fish entered in the Big King Bonanza. We turned back south a couple miles north of the Point. Another King took a standard Spotted Blue Dolphin on a 225 copper. We had to slow way down on that fish and a Laker took a Modified Blue Coyote on a 7.5 color core.
