The water was colder up north this morning after the northwest blow last night and yesterday afternoon. It was 45 degrees down 55 feet on our Fish Hawk. We set up off the bank. The boat traffic was heavy. Our first fish came on an out down set at 62 with a Soda spoon. It was a small King. We took a bigger King on our starboard out down set at 45 with a Wonder Bread Captain’s Choice Cut Plug.
We had a Green Spalter Back Captain’s Choice Cut Plug take a King on a 10-color core. Our chute rigger down 75 with an 11″ White Slick Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly stacked with a mag Fuzzy Bear Yellowtail went 3 times. Once on the stack and twice on the Paddle. Our 275 copper with a mag Beefeater went twice. We took a big Laker on a 250 copper with a mag Fuzzy Bear Green Slice.
We lost a big King on a high wire #4 Deeper Diver out 225 with an 8″ Kevin’s Girlfriend Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly. It got into our 300 copper and escaped. We lost another big fish on our port high #4 Deeper Diver out 210 with an 8″ Black Slick Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly. This one made a big run and got tangled in our 10-color core. On a day where the bites were hard to come by those two loses hurt. We have tomorrow off and will be back on the water Tuesday morning. We use Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs and use Morgan’s Tackle copper and wire.

We landed 2 out of 3. The fish on the chute took the stack. We made a long downwind troll.
Our best rod was our chute rigger down 110. It went a total of 5 times. One time for the stack and 4 times on the DW Paddle. We had several fish hit our coppers that didn’t stay hooked. It’s frustrating to have those hit and runs. We missed a fish and took a Coho on a 250 copper with a Wonder Bread Captain’s Choice Cut Plug. Our 225 copper with the Green Splatter Back Cut Plug went twice too. We took a big King on our 375 copper with a mag Fuzzy Bear Yellowtail. Our port out downset at 85 with a pair of Soda spoons went twice. On a tip from Capt. Russ Sopor on Overkill we put an 8″ Black Slick Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine out 190 on a low wire #5 Deeper Diver on our port side later in the morning. It took a big King, and we lost another King right at the back of the boat on it. Our meat rig never went today. The Lake was beautiful, and we had plenty of action to make it a very good trip. We use Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs and Morgan’s Tackle copper and wire.
