Woke up this morning to thunder, lighting, & heavy rain. Was able to contact our charter and postponed our trip until 7:00. It was a little rough on our trip out southwest of Ludington. Most of our rods were set when we hit a fish on an out down set at 90 with a Flounder Pounder. We lost it. We hit a fish on our other out down set a 85 with a pair of Super Slim Green Hulks. We doubled up when or port low # 5 Deeper Diver out 180 with a 10″ White Slick Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Dreamweaver Meat Rig took off.
The fish on the out down took the stack and was a good size Coho.
The fish on the diver did not want to come to boat. After a long fight we ended up boating a big King.
Later in the trip we took another big King on that combo. They ended up being our 2 biggest fish. We had good action all morning. Our starboard low #5 Deeper Diver out 170 with an 8″ Blue Bubble Spin Doctor/Glow Blue Bubble Action Fly took a Steelhead and a Lake Trout. Our big 11″ White Dreamweaver Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly down 100 stacked with an SS A Bomb took 2 Kings, one on the Paddle and one on the stack. The out down with the SS Green Hulks took 2 fish. Only one fish a high diver. It came on the port high wire out 280 with a 8″ White Slick Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly. It rained on and off, but our group came prepared for the weather. They had fun and took home some good eating fish. We use Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs and Morgan’s copper and wire.

Our high wire #4 Deeper Diver out 250 with an 8″ Kevins Girlfriend Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Dreamweaver Meat Rig went twice but they didn’t hookup well and we didn’t get either one. Our port out down set at 90 with a pair of Super Slim Green Hulks went 3 times. We landed 2 of the 3. Our low # 5 Deeper Diver out 185 went twice with a 10″ White Slick Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Dreamweaver Meat Rig. We boated 1 and broke off 1. We set a new Free Style Charters big fish weight today with a 33.34 lb. King.
It came on a high wire #4 Deeper Diver out 285 with a 8″ White Slick Spin Doctor/Pickle Sunshine Action Fly. It took a full 40 minutes before it came to the net. It is the biggest fish of the week so far at Captain Chucks and is sitting in second place in the Big King Bonanza. Our previous best was a 32.13 lb. King that we caught many years ago. Our chute rigger down 115 went twice with an 11″ White Crush Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly. We boated the first one but the second one came up into our 350 copper that had a big King on it. We had an 8″ Kevin’s Girlfriend /Pickled Sunshine Action Fly on the 350 copper. There are some big Kings out there and we were fortunate to catch a few of them today. More pictures from our trip today are on Free Style Charters Facebook page. We use Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs and Morgan’s Tackle copper and wire.
