We fished south of the Project again today. The surface temp was 47.9 and 25 ft. down it was 45 degrees. We had 4 wire divers and all 3 riggers set for Lake Trout with 8″ Chrome Spin Doctors & Dreamweaver Whirly Gigs. We had spoons on our 3, 5, 7.5 color cores and flasher fly’s on our full cores. Our first 3 Trout hit while we were setting up. It took a little while to get the 4th fish but after that we had steady action. Most of our Trout came on our wire divers fished on or near the bottom. We took 5 on our riggers bouncing bottom. The water was cold so the Trout weren’t just on the bottom. We took 3 on a 5 color core with a Spotted UV Starburst Super Slim, pictured below, and 1 on a 7.5 color core with a prototype Super Slim. They wanted Chrome and Chartreuse Spin Doctors and Whirly Gigs. We have a Chrome & Blue Glow Winged Whirly Gig that normally is good, but it never went today. The Chrome Mountain Dew with Yellow Dots was by far our best Whirly Gig. We took a nice King in 85 feet of water on a high wire diver out 145 with an 8″ Chrome Mountain Dew Spin Doctor/Liquid Sunshine Action Fly. It put up quite a fight pealing out 400 ft. of wire and getting into 2 of our lead cores on it’s first run.

Ludington Area Fishing Reports
5-19-18 Fishing Report
We fished south of Ludington today setting up by the Project in 70 feet of water. We weren’t seeing much on our graph so we moved in a little shallower. All our rods weren’t in the water yet and we hit a double on our wire divers. We trolled between 60 & 70 feet of water occasionally getting as shallow as 50 ft. and as deep as 75 ft. The bite was steady most of the morning. We experienced a little lull in the action mid morning but it didn’t last long. All our Trout came on 8″ Chrome Spin Doctors trailed by Dreamweaver Whirly Gigs. Lime/Chartreuse, Chrome Mountain Dew with Yellow Dots, & Chrome Blue with Glow Wings were our best rigs. We did take a couple on the Green Glow Whirly Gig. Three Trout came on our chute rigger bouncing bottom. All the rest of the Lakers came on our wire divers fished on or near the bottom.
We took a 9 lb. King on a 7.5 color core with a glow spoon and missed another silver fish on a UV Two Face Super Slim on a 5 color core.
