We fished north today setting up 120 feet of water. The down temp had warmed since yesterday but the picture on the graph looked good. Our first 4 bites all came on plugs. Two on a Natural Glow Captains Choice Cut Plug, 1 on an out down 55 down and the other on a 250 copper. A Wonder Bread Captain’s Choice Cut Plug on a 175 copper took a nice King and we missed a fish 65 down on an out down on a Green Splatter Back Cut Plug. We were marking lots of bait and some fish so we trolled north quite a ways but didn’t hit any more fish until we turned and went back south. We had 3 bites on a 10″ White Slick Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Dreamweaver Meat Rig out 150 on a low wire diver. We hit 2 fish on a 10″ White Slick Green Halo Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine DW Meat Rig on a 250 copper and missed a good one on a 300 copper with a 10″ Kevin’s Girlfriend Spin Doctor/Green Mile Big Water Meat Rig. We took a Coho on an 8″ Kevin’s Girlfriend/Green Mile 60 down on an out down. Today was the first morning we didn’t have a bite on our Super Bread SS spoons. Guess they needed a break. We use Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs and Morgan’s Tackle Copper on all our copper rods and Morgan’s wire on our wire rods.
We decided to fish north today figuring warming water temps south might move more fish north towards the Point. We set up in 120 feet of water and trolled into the waves. All our lines were set when an out down with a pair of Super Slim Super Breads 55 down took off. While we were fighting that fish 4 more rods went. We got the first fish but didn’t get any of the other 4.Just as we passed the Point we were met by a large group of boats trolling south. We managed to weave our way through them and take a couple more Kings. We trolled a few miles north of the Stick and turned south with the waves. We took a big King on the turn on a high wire diver out 130 on a 10″ Chrome Killer Spin Doctor/Green Gasoline Dreamweaver Meat Rig. We took 1 fish on the south troll. It came on the out down with the Super Breads set at 65 feet. We only had 1 plug bite. It came on a Natural Glow Captains Choice Cut Plug on a 250 copper. One of our biggest Kings came on a 10″ Light Blue Spin Doctor/Blue UV Big Water Meat Rig out 120 on a high wire diver. The best troll for us and a couple other boats I talked with was a north troll. The waves kept building all morning and it was tough for us to maintain a good trolling speed heading north. We use Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs and Morgan’s Tackle copper on all our copper rods and Morgan’s wire on all our wire rods.
