We fished south of Ludington today. We started the morning fishing between 50 and 65 feet of water with our wire divers and riggers targeting Lake Trout. We had 3 lead cores and 2 coppers off boards with spoons hoping we could catch some silver fish on them. We trolled for 3 miles and didn’t find many Lakers. We did take 2 Kings on a 3 color core with a Super Slim Jail Bait, pictured left. We moved out to 70 to 80 feet of water and took our biggest Trout on a 8″ Chrome Spin Doctor/Yellow Red Dat WhirlyGig fished near the bottom on a high wire diver. We still weren’t marking many fish on the bottom, but we were marking some suspended fish. We pulled our Trout rigs and put spoons and a meat rig on our riggers and Spin Doctors/Flys and meat rigs on our divers. We didn’t have any flasher bites but we hit a few Kings on spoons. Our best set up was an out down with a regular size Green Skinny Jeans stacked with a Super Slim Skinny Jeans. We took 2 Kings with it set at 45 ft., then we lowered it to 55 ft. and took 2 more. We took most of our Kings fishing between 90 and 110 feet of water.
Ludington Area Fishing Reports

We fished south of Ludington today between 55 and 70 feet of water. The strong east south east wind made it hard to keep on a good troll and maintain a steady trolling speed. Our lines were crabbed over to one side or the other all morning. With all that said we still had pretty good action. Our hot rod was an out down fished near the bottom (pictured below) with a Tin Can Dodger/Chartreuse Green WhirlyGig. It went at least four times. Our wire divers fished on or near the bottom were good too. A Blue Chrome WhilyGig with glow wings behind an 8″ Chrome Spin Doctor was good too. We only had one copper bite today. A 250 copper with an 8″ Chrome Spin Doctor / Chrome Chartreuse Spin-N-Glo took a nice Laker.
