Ludington Area Fishing Reports

Fished north this morning. Our first fish came in the dark on a 10 color core with a Mag Fuzzy Bear Raspberry Carbon Spoon. We took 1 more early on a low wire diver out 100 with a 10″ Blue Bubble Spin Doctor/Blue Fairways Strong Fly. As it was getting light we took another King on a Blue Splatter Back Captain’s Choice Cut Plug 90 down on an out down. We took a big Coho on a 10 color core with a Pink Captain’s Choice Cut Plug and took another King on a glow spoon on a 200 copper. We headed west in the 04’s and missed a big fish on the 10″ Blue Bubble Spin Doctor/Blue Fairways Strong Fly, pictured above, on a high wire diver out 200. Our last fish was a Lake Trout that came off an out down set at 160 ft. with an 8″ Chrome Spin Doctor/Blue Silver Spin-N-Glow.

We fished north yesterday and today. Our crew toughed it out in the rain and had pretty good action. We hit three fish in the dark and landed 2 of them. After the early morning bite we moved out to deeper water and worked east and west off the Point. The action was never hot, but we picked away at them and ended up with some nice fish. Today was a different story. It was a tough bite. We set up in the dark with 13 rods out and ran the Bank all the way to the 04’s and never had a bite. I was in contact with 2 other charter boats and it was the same story for them. We turned west in the 04’s and hit a fish 105 down on the chute rigger with a 11″ White Crush Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action fly. It wasn’t on long . We took our 1st fish on a 10″ Kevin’s Girlfriend Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly on an out down set at 70 feet. Our 2nd King came on a high wire diver out 250 with a 10 Kevin’s Girlfriend Spin Doctor/Ocean Mist Action Fly. We didn’t take our other 2 Kings until the last half hour of the trip. We took our biggest fish on a 350 copper with a 10″ Chrome Mountain Dew NBK Spin Doctor/Moo Moo Dreamweaver Meat Rig. Our last King came on a 200 copper with a Mag Fuzzy Bear Hot Rod spoon. We use Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs and Morgan’s copper on all our copper rods.
