Tough fishing for us today. We got a late start but hit a nice fish when we were setting up. It hit a Gold Yeck Fireball on a 400 copper. First mate Abe’s favorite rig lately. It was on for a while, but gave a strong head shake and was gone. The water was still warm, 56 degrees down 90 on our Fish Hawk. The waves were 2 to 3 footers from the southeast. We missed a fish on an out down set at 85 with a pair of standard green glow spoons. Those were our only bites on a long downwind troll. We weren’t marking the fish we had seen on our last two trips. We turned and made an upwind troll. It was hard to get a good speed going into the waves, but we finally hit another fish. It was on a 350 copper with a Yeck Gold Fireball.
While we were fighting that fish our port out down with an 8″ Kevin’s Girlfriend Flip Fin Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly took off with a nice King.
We got lucky and landed both fish. We took another King on a low wire diver out 200 with a 10″ Chrome Green Dot Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine DW Meat Rig. Our port high wire diver out 250 with a 10″ Chrome Kevorkian Spin Doctor/A Bomb DW Meat Rig took a hit and so did our starboard high wire diver out 265 with an 8″ White Crush Green Scale Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine DW Meat Rig.
The youngest member of our charter crew was under the weather right at the start of our trip.
He was a real trooper and hung in there. We cut the trip a little short to give him a break. We use Morgan’s Tackle copper and wire, Dreamweaver Ninja Boards, Dreamweaver Deeper Divers and Dreamweaver Premium Strips in our meat rigs.

Our bites were few and far between. We had 2 meat bites this morning. Our biggest King, 15.5 lbs, came on a 10″ Chrome Kevorkian Spin Doctor/A Bomb DW meat rig. Second came on an 8″ White Lite Green Scale Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Meat Rig.
First Mate Abe likes to get a little unconventional. He caught one on a 400 copper with a Gold Yeck Fireball. I was going to change out the mag PK Special spoon on a 450 copper when a fish hit it. It ended up being a 22″ Master Angler Cisco.
It was a beautiful day on the Lake. Just wish we could have enticed a few more fish to bite. We use Morgan’s Tackle copper and wire, Dreamweaver Deeper Divers, Dreamweaver Ninja Boards and Dreamweaver Premium Strips in our meat rigs.
