Ludington Area Fishing Reports

We had a good early morning bite today up north. Plugs were hot. A Blue Splatter Back Captains Choice Cut Plug took three Kings on a 300 copper and a Green Splatter Back Cut Plug took three on a 225 copper. We missed one on an out down set at 58 ft. with a Pearl Zebra Captains Choice Plug. We had a big 11″ Black Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly on a low wire diver out 120 go twice.  Our other low wire diver out 170 took a nice King on a 10″ White Crush Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly. A high wire diver out 220  with a 10″ White Slick Spin Doctor/Blue Fairways Strong Fly got hit three times and a glow spoon stacked 10 ft. above our big White Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly down 90 on the chute rigger took a Steelhead and a Laker. The King pictured left was one of the three we took on the Blue Splatter Back Captains Choice Cut Plug. We use Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs and Morgan’s Tackle copper on all our copper rods.

Heavy boat traffic and dense fog made for some tough fishing for us up north today. We missed our first two bites, one on a low wire diver out 150 with a 10″ White Crush Spin Doctor/Action Fly Meat Rig and the other on an out down set at 60 feet with a Green Ladder Back Captains Choice Cut Plug. We landed our first King on a 300 copper with a Blue Glow Dreamweaver Plug and took our second one on a high wire diver out 200 with a 10″ Blue Bubble Spin Doctor/Blue Bubble Action Fly. We were working between 100 and 110 feet of water. Our action dried up and we wanted to head out to deeper water, but we were pinned in by other boats and were stuck where we were. We were finally able to turn out near the Point and we headed southwest. We trolled for quite awhile before our high wire out 200 with the Blue Bubble rig took a hit, but we missed it. We hit another fish on an out down set at 84 ft.with a 10″ Kevin’s Girlfriend Spin Doctor/Green Mile Big Water Meat Rig and that one got off  at the back of the boat. We turned back north in the 01’s and finally took another King on the Kevin’s Girlfriend /Green Mile on the out down at 84 feet. We kept working north and hit two more on our low wire out 170 with the 10″ White Crush Spin Doctor/Action Fly Meat Rig. We boated one of them and took our last King on a high wire out 270 with a 10″ White Crush Green Scale Spin Doctor/Action Fly Meat Rig. A 300 copper with a 10″ Kevin’s Girlfriend Spin Doctor/Ocean Mist Action Fly went twice and neither one got a good hook up. We had 11 bites and got 5 of them. We use Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs and Morgan’s Tackle copper on all our copper rods.
