Ludington Area Fishing Reports

We fished north for both trips yesterday and this morning. We a good trip yesterday morning highlighted by Jim’s 15 lb. 11 oz. 35 7/8 inch Michigan Master Angler Steelhead. It came on a Dreamweaver Bloody Nose spoon on a 200 copper. Our hot rig was a 300 copper with a 10″ White Slick Spin Doctor/Green Mile Big Water Meat Rig. It went 3 times. A 10″ White Atomic Killer Spin Doctor/Green Moo Dreamweaver Meat Rig went twice out 100 on a low wire and once on a 250 copper. We really struggled on the afternoon trip, 5 bites and 2 fish. The Laker came on a Tin Can Dodger/Green & Chartreuse  Spin-N-Glow fished near bottom and we missed another Laker on that rig.. We had 2 bites on a 10″ White Crush Green Scale Spin Doctor/Action Fly Meat Rig out 210 on a high wire diver. We landed one and the other was a nice king that pulled off at the back of the boat. We missed another King on a 10″ Chrome Blue Bubble Spin Doctor/ Blue Bubble Dreamweaver Meat Rig out 120 on a low wire diver.  Heavy boat traffic again this morning. We hit our first fish on a mag glow spoon on a 200 copper. Our second fish came on a 10″ Atomic White Killer/Green Moo Dreamweaver Meat Rig out 100 on a low wire. We missed one on a high wire out 150 with a 10″ White Crush Spin Doctor/Action Fly Meat Rig. We took 2 Lake Trout on a Tin Can Dodger/Green & Chartreuse Spin-N-Glow on our chute rigger fished near bottom. We went through a lot of baits trying to get another bite, but it didn’t happen. Hoping for better action tomorrow. We use Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs and Morgan’s Tackle copper on all our copper rods.

The boat traffic was bad this morning up north. Hate to think what it will be like this weekend. It took a while before we got our first bite today. It came on a high wire diver out 150 with a 10″ White Crush Spin Doctor/Action Fly Meat Rig. It was a nice mature King. Our other high wire out 170 took another King with a 10″ White Crush Green Scale Spin Doctor/Action Fly Meat Rig. Both our high wires took two more fish each today. No low wire bites. We missed a King on a 250 copper with a 10″ Mountain Dew Slick Spin Doctor/4th of July Big Water Meat Rig. A 10″ Mountain Dew Slick Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly down 70 ft. on an out down went 3 times. We landed 2 out of the 3. We had a Tin Can Dodger/Green Yellow Spin-N-Glow near the bottom on an out down and it took a King. We hit a couple Lake Trout, but they both got off. We hit 2 doubles and the rest of the morning it was a slow pick. We use Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs and Morgan’s Tackle copper on all our copper rods.
