The King fishing has been hit or miss, and the Lake Trout fishing has been fairly consistent. So, our group this morning wanted to try their luck fishing for Lakers. It was a lot rougher than we expected. Which isn’t always good for Trout fishing. We had to wait a little before a Laker hit our high wire diver just ticking bottom with an 8″ Lake Trout Candy Spin Doctor/Blue Chrome Spin-N-Glo. The young man pictured left landed his first Laker.
The surface temp was 52.9. It was 51.9 on our Fish Hawk probe down 40 feet. Most of our fish come on high wire divers and the chute rigger when we are Trout fishing, but this morning we took 6 fish off boards. Our 3 color core with a SS Gold Rasta Goose went twice taking a Laker and
our nice King. A 7.5 color core with a SS Steelie Stomper took 2 Trout and a 10 color core with an 8″ Custom Spin Doctor/Size 2 Custom Spin-N-Glo took a Laker. Our other 3 color core with a Gold Double Orange Crush had a small King dragging on it
when we pulled it in to change it. We lost a Trout behind the boat off the chute rigger on an 8″ White Crush Spin Doctor/White Pink Dot WhirlyGig. We took a Trout on an out down set 5 ft. off bottom with an 8″ Chrome Spin Doctor/Gold WhirlyGig. Our port high wire diver with a 10″ Chrome Spin Doctor/Size 0 Chrome Blue Spin-N-Glo took 2 fish. It was a little cold and windy but our crew had a good time. We use Morgan’s Tackle copper and wire, Dreamweaver Deeper Divers, and Dreamweaver Ninja Boards.

We hit a couple more fish and landed them both. The action slowed so we turned back for an in troll.
A big fish hit our starboard high wire diver with an 8″ White Slick Flip Fin DFW Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly. After a pretty good fight, it got off. We turned and made a long out troll and only took one fish. It was a King that took a Gold Glow Spoon on a 7.5 color core. The down temp at 40 feet kept getting colder on the out troll and with our lack of bites we turned back on an in troll. We took 2 more fish pulling lines. Our other bites were on a 3 color Core with a Gold Double Orange Crush, a 250 coper with an SS Spotted Majic Man, a 250 copper with an 8″ Senica Special Flip Fin Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly with Lime Green Beads, a 10 color core with a SS Blue Coyote, and a 5 color core with a Gold SS Rasta Goose. Both Flip Fins had the fin deployed. We use Morgan’s Tackle copper and wire, Dreamweaver Deeper Divers, and Dreamweaver Ninja Boards.
