We had an afternoon trip today. It was a little rough when we ran southwest of Ludington this afternoon. We ran out deep to the 53’s south and 39’s west and put it on a 240 troll. The surface temp was 53 degrees. It took a while for us to get our first fish but after that it was pretty steady. Most of our bites came on 1, 2, & 3 color cores. Our Slide Divers were good too. We had a Super Slim Steelie Stomper out 105 on one and a Super Slim Ruby Red Root Beer out 90 on the other. each had a 50 ft. lead. Our best baits were all Super Slims. The Double Orange Pearl, Steelie Stomper, and Star Burst were all good. We took it out as far as the 46’s west. Our best fishing was in 46 to 48 degree water.
Ludington Area Fishing Reports
7-7-14 Fishing Report

We fished north of Ludington today setting up in 110 feet of water (fow) just off the shelf in the middle of the 01’s. The west north west wind and a strong current made trolling north along the bank very difficult. We hit 3 fish on our first pass, all Kings, and boated all 3. We turned off the bank in the 04’s and made an out troll. The west troll was much better than the north troll. We took it out to 350 fow and then came back east into 120 fow. The action was never hot, it was more like a slow pick. The Steelhead pictured below took a 10″ White Crush Spin Doctor/Froggie Big Water Meat Rig on a 350 copper. Our best rod was a 250 copper with a regular size Dreamweaver Super Bread spoon. It took 3 Kings. Two of our biggest fish came on a high wire diver out 220 with a 10″ Kevin’s Girlfriend Spin Doctor/Green Mile Big Water Meat Rig. A 10″Chrome NBK Mountain Dew Spin Doctor/Moo Moo Big Water Rig on a 350 copper took a nice King too. We had 3 rigger bites and no low wire diver bites.
