Fished up north today hoping that the south wind would warm the water some. We set up in 120 feet of water (fow) in the high 01’s. The temp looked good, 65 on the surface and 47 at 60 ft. on our Fish Hawk unit. Our first fish hit an out down set at 58 ft. with a pair of glow spoons. It was a small King. That rod went two more time taking another small King and a nice Coho. A 200 copper with an 8″ UV Lizard Spin Doctor/UV ON Ice Big Water Meat Rig got our first big King. A low wire diver out 100 took our next bite. It was a nice King but it got wrapped and broke off. Our other out down set a 68 ft. with a pair of glow spoons took two Kings, a big one and a small one. The biggest fish of the day came on a 350 copper with a 10″ Chrome Mountain Dew Spin Doctor/Moo Moo Big Water Meat Rig. We ran an afternoon trip yesterday. It was slow but we did manage to get three keeper Lake Trout. We also caught a little Trout that had to go back and lost another at the back of the boat.

Heavy fog today on Lake Michigan. We headed north hoping to find some warm water north of Big Sable Point. We ran all the way to the 05’s and the surface temp kept getting colder the further north we went. It was 45.9 on our Fish Hawk 840 at 05:30 so we turned back south and set up south of the Point in 120 feet of water (fow). The surface temp was 49.9. We didn’t have half our rods set when a low wire diver out 70 ft. with a 10″ White Crush Spin Doctor/Froggie Big Water Meat Rig fired. While that fish was still on the other low wire diver with a 10″ Kevin’s Girlfriend Spin Doctor/Green Mile Big Water Rig took off. That one got off. Then the high Slide Diver back 110 ft. with a regular size Dreamweaver Lemon Lime spoon started screaming out line. That one got off too. The first one finally came to the boat. It was an 18 lb. King. We got the rest of rods set with no more action. A half hour went by before hit another fish. It was a small King on a 3 color with a SOG Super Slim spoon. That rig went two more times but we didn’t land either one. We ended up with 9 fish on, but only boated 4 of them. They just didn’t want to stay hooked. We got as far south as the 01’s and as far north as 03:50. We worked between 110 and 150 fow.
