We were aprehensive when we left the dock this afternoon. There were storm clouds over the Lake and the two reports from boats that fished in the morning wern’t very encouraging. Our crew wanted to go so we headed out and went north. We set up off the Bank in 130 feet of water. The break was down 70 feet. We didn’t have all our rods set when an out down set at 80 feet fired. It was a big fish and Marty our birthday girl had her hands full with this one. It turned out to be 2 fish on the same rod. The big King hit a 10″ Kevin’s Girlfriend Spin Doctor/Green Mile Big Water Meat Rig and the small King took a regular size Dreamweaver Super Bread spoon stacked 10 feet above the Spin Doctor. We hit 2 more big big fish on a high wire diver out 220 with a 10 White Crush Black Dot Spin Doctor/Vanilla Ice Big Water Meat Rig. We missed the 1st one and broke off the 2nd one. Then our wire divers got hot. We didn’t land them all. A high wire with a 10″ Blue Bubble Spin Doctor/Blue Fairways Strong Fly went twice out 245. A low wire out 170 with a 10″ Kevin’s Girlfriend Spin Doctor/Green Mile Big Water Meat Rig went twice and the other low wire out 150 with 10″ White Slick Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly took a big King. We hit 1 more on the high wire with the 10″ White Crush Black Dot Spin Doctor this on had a Black UV Big Water Meat Rig behind it since our last Vanilla Ice Rig got bit off. Our last fish came in the dark on a 300 copper with a Mag Fuzzy Bear Green Skinny Jeans. It was raining pretty hard most of the trip but the action was good. We use Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs and Morgan’s copper on all our copper rods.

9-5-16 Fishing Report

Light boat traffic up north today. The wave reading from bouy in front of Ludington read 3.8 feet when we left the harbor. Our crew wanted to fish so fish we did. It was just breaking light when a King took a glow spoon stacked above a big White Paddle down 65 feet. It wan’t long before we took another King on a low wire diver out 55 with a 10″Blue Bubble Spin Doctor/Blue Fairways Strong Fly. We turned back south in the middle of the 04’s and took a big Coho on a 175 copper with an 8″ Blue Bubble Spin Doctor/Blue Bubble Action Fly. We took another Coho on a low wire diver out 80 witha 10″ White Slick Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly. We were surprised that our plugs on our lead cores were dead. We finally did take a small Salmon on a 5 color core with a Yellow Splatter Back Captain’s Choice Cut Plug. The water was warming , but we put the 5 color back out. We pulled it after it took a Sheepshead. We took the King pictured left on a 10 color core with a 10″ Chrome Kevorkian Spin Doctor/UV On Ice Big Water Tackle Meat Rig. We took 2 fish on a high wire out 150 with a regular size Dreamweaver Super Bread spoon. The waves got bigger, the water got warmer and the action slowed later in the trip. We use Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs and Morgan’s copper on all our copper rods.
