Fishing Report

Good fishing again today north of  Ludington. First rod to go was an out down with a Pearl Zebra Captain’s Choice Cut Plug down 65. Both our 300 coppers were next. They both had Captain’s Choice plugs on them, a Green Splatter Back and a Michigan Shiner. Our 200 copper with a Wonder Bread Captain’s Choice plug was our highest board bite and it went twice. We had a 10 color core and a 175 copper out with plugs, but they didn’t go. Our chute rigger with an 11″ White Crush Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly went twice at 100 feet. We had an 8″ Dragon Slayer Paddle/Blue UV Strong Fly go three times on an out down, twice at 60 ft. and once at 84 ft. Our wire divers didn’t go until it was full light. A 10″ Black Spin Doctor/Green Mirage Strong Fly on a low wire went twice at 150 and once at 170. Our hot high diver set up yesterday, a 10″ Glow Blade White Crush Spin Doctor/Green Mirage Strong Fly, only went once. It was out 220. No spoon bites and only one meat bite. It was on a high wire diver out 270 with a 10″ White Crush Green Scale Spin Doctor/Action Fly Meat Rig. The Lake was rough and the south troll was brutal. Looks like it could be bumpy again tomorrow. We use Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs and Morgan’s Tackle Copper on all our copper rods.

We got a good early bite today. First rod to go was a Pearl Zebra Captain’s Choice Cut Plug on an out down set at 60 feet. It was on for a minute or two and then it was gone. It was looking like a repeat of yesterday. Chute rigger went next with a 10″ Kevin’s Girlfriend Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly down 100. We took two on that same combo. We boated that one then the rods started popping. We took fish on a 175 copper with a Lucky Charms Plug, a 250 with a Wonder Bread Plug and a 300 with a Green Ladder Back Plug. All our plugs were Dreamweaver Captain’s Choice Cut Plugs. Our wire divers were hot. A high wire out 220 went 7 times with a 10″ Glow Blade White Crush Spin Doctor/Green Mirage Strong Fly. We took a King on that same set up on s 300 copper. A low wire out 180 with a 11″ Black Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly went 3 times. A low wire out 150 with a 10″ Mountain Dew Spin Doctor/Green Mile Big Water Meat Rig went twice and a high wire out 210 with a 10 ” White Crush Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly went once. After the morning flurry we stacked a pair of Fuzzy Bear Modified Green Dolphins on an out down set at 120 feet. They weren’t down there long when we looked back and saw the line coming to the surface. We were surprised to see, pictured above left, a Laker on the main bait and a Coho on the stack. We put a Kevin’s Girlfriend/Green Mile Big Water Rig on our chute rigger and set it at 95 feet. It went twice. Our divers cooled off so we put a 10′ Black Slick Spin Doctor/UV On Ice Big Water Rig on a low wire back 170 and took two fish on it. A high wire out 270 with a 10″ White Crush Green Scale Spin Doctor/Action Fly Meat Rig took one too. The Lake was rough when we made our first up wind troll. I had to stay on the wheel until we turned back south.  First Mate Austin had his hands full running the back of the boat and did a great job. It’s good to see so many mature Kings still out in the Big Lake. We use Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs and Morgan’s Tackle Copper on all our copper rods.
