We set up in 100 feet of water south of Ludington this morning. The down temp showed 40 degrees down 50 feet on my Fish Hawk. We set our lines and started trolling west. We hit our first fish on a 200 copper with a mag Fuzzy Bear Orange Slice. It was a small King. Our chute rigger down 75 with an 11″ White Slick Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly stacked with a mag Fuzzy Bear UV Blue Skinny Jeans was next. We fought the fish for a long time. We thought it was foul hooked, but it turned out to a 26 lb. male King that took the stack. We had our out downs set at 70 & 55. We took a fish on the one set at 70 but didn’t take a fish on the starboard out down all morning. We swapped out the baits and moved it to different depths but couldn’t get it to go. We had an 8″ White Slick Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly out 160 on a high #4 Deeper Diver and a 10″ White Slick Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Dreamweaver Meat Rig 85 out on a low #5 Deeper Diver on our port side. The high didn’t go until later in the morning when we dropped it back to 190 feet. It went once with a big fish that got away. The low diver turned out to be our best rod. It went four times. We took 2 Kings and a Steelhead on it. One fish escaped. No bites today on our starboard divers. We moved our mag Fuzzy Orange Slice to a 250 copper and it went once there. We dropped our chute rigger down 10 feet and took 2 fish on the Paddle. We started the morning out with a # 3 Glow Black Ladder-Back plug on a 7.5 color core but it didn’t go. Our 300 was our best copper it had a standard soda spoon on it. We had good action all morning boating some nice Kings and Steelhead. The weather was perfect, and fishing was good. We use Dreamweaver premium Strips in all our meat rigs and Morgan’s Tackle copper and wire.

The fish turned out to be a big Lake Trout. We took another fish on a 175 copper with an Orange Slice spoon. Our 250 copper took our third fish with a mag Fuzzy Bear Orange Slice. That rod was one of our best again today, going several times. Our action slowed after the third fish. We marked a lot of bait and fish between 140 and 160 feet of water but didn’t get any bites there. We switched our troll to northwest and took a couple fish right away. Once we got north a ways, we put it on a southwest troll. The action was steady. All our coppers took fish. We took 2 more on the 200 with the plug. We switched it to a standard DW Rasta Goose, and it went several times. A 225 with a Bloody Nose was good. We took fish on our 275 with a mag glow spoon and on our 300 with a standard glow spoon. Our divers were quiet during most of the trip, but really came alive later in the morning. We had an 8″ White Slick Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly out 190 on our port high #4 Deeper Diver and a 10″ White Slick Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Dreamweaver Meat Rig out 90 on our port low #5 wire Diver. They both went 4 times. We had a mag Fuzzy Bear Orange Slice out 170 on our high #4 Deeper Diver and an 8″ White Slick Flip Fin DW Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly out 145. We took 2 Steelhead on the high diver and took a mature King on the low wire and lost a big fish on it too. It was a lot of fun out there. We took a nice mixed bag of Kings, Coho, Steelhead and Lake Trout. We use Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs and Morgan’s Tackle copper and wire.
