Ludington Area Fishing Reports

We fished north again today. Not as many boats up there this morning. We set up in 120 feet of water (fow) south of the Point. We took our 1st fish, a nice Brown, on an out down set at 55 feet on a Blue Splatter Back Captains Choice Cut Plug. We hit a big fish on a high wire diver out 240 on a 10″ White Slick Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Dreamweaver Meat Rig. After a hard fight the fish won and was gone. We moved out a little deeper and took a King on a low wire out 150 on a 10″ Kevin’s Girlfriend Spin Doctor/Green Mile Big Water Meat Rig. We missed one on a 300 copper with a 10″ Chrome Kevorkian Spin Doctor/UV On Ice Big Water Meat Rig an caught 1 and lost 1 on our other 300 copper on a 10″ White Slick Green Halo Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine DW Meat Rig. A 10″ Blue Bubble Slick Spin Doctor/Ice Cold Big Water Rig went twice on a high wire diver out 220. We took a Laker on an 8″ Chrome Spin Doctor/Chrome Blue WhirlyGig on an out down just off the bottom. We use Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs and Morgan’s Tackle copper on our copper rods and Morgan’s wire on our wire rods.

Tough fishing today on the Free Style. We went north. The boat traffic was heavy and we didn’t find a place to set up south of the Point. We started little north of Big Sable Point in 110 feet of water. We only had a few rods set when we took a King on an out down set at 55 ft. with a Green Splatter Back Captains Choice Cut. Then a 250 copper with a 10″ White Slick Green Halo Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Dreamweaver Meat Rig took a big hit. The fish wasn’t on long and was gone. That was our last bite for about 2 hours. We turned back south and didn’t have another bite until we turned back north in the middle of the 01’s. We hit a fish on a 175 copper with a mag size Fuzzy Bear Green Skinny Jeans. That one didn’t stay hooked long either. We took a Trout on an 8″ Chrome Spin Doctor/ Blue Chrome WhirlyGig on the bottom north of the Point. That was it for us. Hoping for more action tomorrow.
