Ludington Area Fishing Reports

Fished north today setting up off the bank. Seems like there’s getting to be more boats up there every day. I’m sure the boat traffic is going to get worse before it gets better. We hit out first fish on a number 3 glow plug on a 175 copper rod. We caught a small Trout on our chute rigger just off the bottom but it was a little too small so we threw it back. Had one more throw back Trout before we took a second King. It hit a low wire diver out 135 with a 10 ” White Green Spin Doctor/Custom Dreamweaver Meat Rig. It was quite a while before we had another bite. We rode all the way to the 06’s without so much as a nibble. We turned west in the 06’s and caught a nice Brown out 120 on a low wire diver with a 10″ White Green Holo Spin Doctor/Pickle Sunshine Action Fly Meat Rig. We no sooner got the Brown in the boat when a high wire diver out 145 with a 10″ Mountain dew Slick Spin Doctor/4th of July Big Water Meat rig got bit by a good size King. We got that one too.  We took 2 Lakers on a Tin Can Dodger/Yellow Red Dot Spin-N-Glow bouncing bottom with our chute rigger. We took our last 2 Kings in a little over 200 feet of water. One took a 300 copper with a 10″ Chrome Crush Glow Spin Doctor with Green Dots/Froggie Dreamweaver Meat Rig. The other came on a high wire diver out 185 on the 10″ Mountain Dew Slick Spin Doctor/4th of July Big Water Rig. We ran the 10″ Blue Bubble Spin Doctor/Blue Bubble Action Fly combo that took 4 bites yesterday on a high wire diver for a while today and it never had a hit, go figure.  We use Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs and use Morgan’s Tackle copper on all our copper rods.

Good fishing the last two mornings in Ludington. We ran an afternoon trip last night and we hit some fish later in the evening, but it was slow going the first couple hours of the trip. We fished north on all three trips. Our hot rod yesterday was a 10″ Mountain Dew Spin Doctor/4th of July Big Water Meat Rig. It went a total of 6 times counting both trips. Four times out 185 on a high wire diver and twice on a low wire diver out 135. Today we only took one fish on it 185 out on a high wire. We had a 10″ Blue Bubble Spin Doctor/Blue Bubble Action Fly out 200 on a high wire diver go 3 times this morning. Both our out downs went today. One at 58 ft. with a 8″ White Crush Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly Rig and the other with a pair of glow spoons 65 down. Not much action on our cores & coppers today. We did have a surprise when we landed a nice King on a 400 copper with a Tin Can Dodger/Yellow Red Dot Spin-N-Glow. The top picture is todays catch. Yesterdays morning trip is in the middle and the afternoon trip is on the right. We use Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs and Morgan’s Tackle copper on all our copper rods.
