We fished north of Ludington today setting up just off the bank in 130 feet of water (fow). We were running 6, 7.5 , & 10 color cores to start out with. We had # 3 plugs on all but the 10 color. We had a glow spoon on it. They all went once early, but that was it. We added some 200, 250 & 300 coppers later in the morning but they never took a fish. Our wire divers were good. We had a 8″Chrome Killer Spin Doctor/Green Moo Dreamweaver Meat Rig take a King out 130. We dropped it back to 160 a little later in the morning and it took another big King. Our other high wire was a 10″ Kevin’s Girlfriend Spin Doctor/Green Mile Big Water Meat Rig out 150. It went 4 times. We only had one low wire bite. It was the same Kevin’s Girlfriend/Green Mile rig out 85. The other low wire didn’t take a hit. We had Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs. We had a 11′ White Dreamweaver Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly 95 down on our chute rigger it went twice. We stayed in the 100 to 130 depth range most of the morning. After 10:00 a.m. we moved out to 160 to 180 and took two fish. The water is cold up there and the Kings had a lot of fight in them.

8-3-14 Fishing Report

We fished south of Ludington again today setting up in 80 feet of water (fow). The graph was clean. Capt. Shane on the Dreamweaver was hitting some fish outside us in 120 fow. I was pinned in by a couple boats and was stuck in 85 feet. We pulled lines and ran south another mile and set up in 110 fow. It proved to be a good move. A 10″ Kevin’s Girlfriend Spin Doctor/Green Mile Big Water Meat Rig out 150 on a high wire took off as soon as we got it set. We missed that one, but that was our hot rig for the day. It went 5 times on the high wire and once on a 250 copper. We had an 8″ Chrome Killer Spin Doctor/Green Moo Dreamweaver Meat Rig (pictured right) out 130 on the other high wire and it was good too. A 10″ Kevin’s Girlfriend Spin Doctor/Froggie Big Water Rig went twice out 85 on a low wire diver. We had #3 plugs on our 5 color cores and one on a 7.5 core. One five with a Double Glow Silver Horde went once and the Silver Horde Moldy Wonder Bread on the 7.5 went once. The Chrome Redhead J went twice on the other 5 color. We had about the same action as yesterday but the fish won more today. We only had about a half hour left to go when first mate Austin put out a 8″ Red Mamba Spin Doctor/Car Crash Dreamweaver Meat rig on a 300 copper. It took our last King just like it did Friday. It is proving to be a good late morning rig. We use Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs.
