We fished south of Ludington today setting up in 95 feet of water (fow). It didn’t take long for the first fish to hit. A nice King took a glow spoon stacked above a 10″ Glow Blade White Crush Spin Doctor/Green Mirage Strong Fly. We boated that one and hit King on the stack on another glow spoon down 50 feet. The action was never hot. We would get a bite every 15 or 20 minutes. We took fish on 7.5 & 10 color cores and 150, 200 & 300 coppers. They wanted spoons early and Spin Doctors and meat rigs later. Our high wire divers were set at 150 & 160 feet. The 150 had a 10″ Green Sparkle Spin Doctor/Green Gasoline Dreamweaver Meat Rig. The 160 had a 10″ Yellow Sparkle Spin Doctor/UV On Ice Big Water Meat Rig. They each got bit a couple times. We only took one fish on a low wire . It came on a 10″ Kevin’s Girlfriend Spin Doctor/Froggie Big Water Rig. The big King pictured hit a 10″ Chrome Killer Spin Doctor/Leprechaun Big Water Rig on a 300 copper. We use Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs.

We fished up north the last two days setting up on the bank in 110 feet of water (fow). The early bite has been ok, but not great. It was better today than yesterday for us. There is still some cold water hanging around the point. We’ve been setting up on the warm side of the break. Our most consistent rig has been 8 & 10 ” Kevin’s Girlfriend Spin Doctors/Froggie Big Water Tackle Meat Rigs. We’ve been running them on high & low wires and on at least two of our coppers , usually a 200 & 300. We had a 8″ Chrome Killer/Green Moo Dreamweaver Meat Rig go twice today on a 10 color core. We put a 10″ Chrome Killer/Leprechaun Big Water Rig out 180 on a high wire later in the day and a nice Laker hit it but it got off at the back of the boat. Not a lot of rigger action. A 10″ Glow Blade Spin Doctor/Green Mirage Strong Fly on our chute rigger has taken at least one nice King both days. Today we had it set at 80 feet. Our biggest fish of the day (18 lbs.) was the last one we caught. It was near the end of our trip and first mate Austin put out a 8″ Red Mamba Spin Doctor/Car Crash Dreamweaver Meat Rig on a 300 copper. It wasn’t out all that long when the big king hit it. He peeled out a lot of line and got tangled in two other lines but we got him. Most of our fish were taken between 110 & 160 fow. We were using Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs.
