Ludington Area Fishing Reports

Fished north this morning. We figured the deck was stacked against us with the bright full moon and the big waves from the north. The water was cold, 43 degrees down 50 ft. on our Fish Hawk, but the fish were biting. Bites were on: 3 color core Double Orange Crush, 5 color core Double Orange Crush and a Gold Yeck Fireball, 7.5 color core with a Gold Fireball, 7.5 color core small Pink plug, 10 color core small Pink plug, 10 color core SS Metallic Glow Frog went twice, and a 225 copper 8″ Chrome White Crush Green Dot Flip Fin Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly. Port out down set at 50 went 3 times with a pair of SS Soda spoons, starboard out down set at 55 went 3 times with a pair of Green Glow spoons, 1 time with an 8″ White Crush Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly and 1 more time down 65 with an 8″ Blue Bubble Flip Fin Paddle/Blue Bubble Action Fly and a SS Metallic Glow Frog stacked above the paddle. The Coho took the stack. Chute rigger down 8 went 3 times with an 11″ Black Slick Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly.  Our high wire divers were very good. One was out 150 and the other out 160. Both had an 8″ White Slick Flip Fin Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly. Starboard low wire out 140 with an 8″ Blue Bubble Spin Doctor/Blue Bubble Action Fly went twice. Our crew was experienced and that helped a lot. We use Morgan’s Tackle copper and wire, Dreamweaver Deeper Divers, Dreamweaver Ninja Boards, and Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs.

Fished north today. The temp down 80 feet was 68 degrees on our Fish Hawk. There were a lot more boats north today than yesterday. We got off to a slow start. We missed our first fish on our starboard low wire diver out 135 with an 8″ Kevin’s Girlfriend Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly. We boated a small King on our port out down set at 75 with a pair of SS Sodas. We waited a while before our next bites. The chute rigger down 105 with a mag Fuzzy Bear Soda and an SS Soda free sliding above it went twice. The port out down went 1 more time with the SS Sodas and the starboard out down set at 85 with a pair of green glow spoons took a King. We took a fish on a 350 copper with a mag Fuzzy Bear Soda and lost a big fish on a 450 copper with an 8″ Chrome UV Black Spin Doctor/A Bomb Dreamweaver meat rig. Port high wire diver out 200 went once with a Yeck Gold Fireball. Port low wire out 160 went 3 times with an 8″ Kevin’s Girlfriend Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly and one more time out 200. Starboard high wire diver with an 8″ White Slick Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly went once out 220 and once out 380. Starboard low wire with an 8″ Kevin’s Girlfriend Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly went once out 150, once out 220 and 2 times out 285. Chute rigger went 3 times down 105 with a mag Soda and an SS Soda free sliding above it. It went 2 more times down 130 with an 11″ Black Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly and a SS Soda stacked 10 feet above it. Not as many bites today as yesterday, but our crew made the most of the fish they had on. We use Morgan’s Tackle copper and wire, Dreamweaver Deeper Divers, Dreamweaver Ninja Boards, and Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs.
