We fished a little south of Ludington and out deep. We didn’t want to fight the boats up north and we heard good reports from some friends that fished out there last evening. We set up in 220 feet of water. It was 45 degrees down 60 ft. on our Fish Hawk. Took our first fish, a Steelhead, on a 250 copper with a blue glow spoon. Shortly after we landed it we hit a triple. One on an out down set at 50 ft. with a pair of Dreamweaver Green Skinny Jeans, another on a 200 copper with a 10″ Green Scale White Crush Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Dreamweaver Meat Rig and the last on a 300 copper with a 10″ UV Green Jeans Spin Doctor/Green Mile Big Water Meat Rig. We boated all three. Our best troll was into the waves that were building all morning. We lost several fish on our coppers because the waves were causing the boards to dive and it made it hard to keep tension on the fish. Our hottest rig was an 8″ Yellow Bikini Bottom Spin Doctor/Liquid Sunshine Action Fly on a 250 copper. It went 3 times with big fish and we didn’t get any of them. Our biggest King came on an 8″ White Slick Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly out 180 on a high wire diver. We were lucky to have an experienced crew with us. Today made it 20 years they have been fishing with us. We use Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs and Morgan’s copper on all our copper rods.
