We fished south of Ludington today setting up by the Project in 70 feet of water. We weren’t seeing much on our graph so we moved in a little shallower. All our rods weren’t in the water yet and we hit a double on our wire divers. We trolled between 60 & 70 feet of water occasionally getting as shallow as 50 ft. and as deep as 75 ft. The bite was steady most of the morning. We experienced a little lull in the action mid morning but it didn’t last long. All our Trout came on 8″ Chrome Spin Doctors trailed by Dreamweaver Whirly Gigs. Lime/Chartreuse, Chrome Mountain Dew with Yellow Dots, & Chrome Blue with Glow Wings were our best rigs. We did take a couple on the Green Glow Whirly Gig. Three Trout came on our chute rigger bouncing bottom. All the rest of the Lakers came on our wire divers fished on or near the bottom.
We took a 9 lb. King on a 7.5 color core with a glow spoon and missed another silver fish on a UV Two Face Super Slim on a 5 color core.
5-17-18 Fishing Report
Fished south of Ludington again today setting up in 70 feet of water south of the project and putting it on a SE troll. We had 4 divers and the chute rigger set for Lakers and our lead cores set for Kings. We trolled between 50 & 75 feet of water. We didn’t mark many fish but we had decent action all morning. Our first 3 fish were Lake Trout and the
4th a nice King. The King hit an 8″ Blue Bubble Spin Doctor/Glow Blue Bubble Action Fly on a 10 color core. We took our other King on the same rig later in the morning. We lost a good size Steelhead on a 3 color core with a Gold Super Slim Starburst and boated a Laker and lost another Laker on a 7.5 color core with a UV Two Face Super Slim. We took 2 Trout on our chute rigger and the rest came on our wire divers fished on or near the bottom with 8″ Chrome Spin Doctors and Whirly Gigs. Our best 2 Whirly Gigs were the Lime Chartreuse and the Chrome Mountain Dew with Yellow Dots.
