We fished up north today setting up just off the Bank in 120 feet of water. We had all of our rods set before a low wire diver out 85 with a 10″ Spin Doctor/meat rig took our first bite. It hammered the diver and was gone . A 10 and 7.5 color core took our next two bites, both on glow spoons. We landed one and had a split ring fail on the other. We couldn’t figure out why our chute rigger didn’t get bit. We moved it from 55 down to 85 to 95 and back up to 70 still no bites. We finally pulled it and found a Laker hitchhiker on it. We hit a couple more fish, but it was slow going so we pulled lines and ran to a break northwest of the Point. We hit 10 or 11 fish out there and boated six nice Steelhead. Our best rods were clean birds and 1 & 2 color cores. Our clean birds had a Dreamweaver LD Bumble Bee, SS Magic Man and a SS Goldilocks on them. A Super Slim Steelie Stomper and a Yeck Fireball were on our 1 color cores and a SS Starburst and Yeck Pats Bait were on the 2 color cores. We use Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs and Morgan’s Tackle copper on our copper rods.

7-8-15 Fishing Report

After the hard north blow yesterday the surface water up north on the Bank was in the low 40’s. We went northwest until the surface temp started to rise and set lines. It took a while before we hit our first fish, a nice King out 100 on high wire diver with a 10″ Spin Doctor/meat rig. The bites were coming slow today. We hit two big Kings on our chute rigger down 70 with a 11″ White Crush Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly. One got away and the other, pictured left, ended up in the box. We lost another King on a 10 color core with a 10″ Chrome Killer Spin Doctor/Green UV Big Water Meat Rig. It turned the hook. We took a Laker and a small King on a 2 color core with a Dreamweaver LD Bumblebee and a good size Steelhead on a Super Slim Slurpee. A 3 color core with a SS Steelie Stomper took a smaller King too. We fished between the 02’s and low 04’s in the 34’s to the 36’s.
