Ludington Area Fishing Reports

The early bite was good. All our bites were on our board rods. Our 1, 2, 3, 5, & 7.5 color cores all went with Dreamweaver Mini Captain’s Choice Plugs. We had a full size DW Salmon Slayer Plug on a 3 color that went twice until it broke off. Our best core was our port 3 color with a Mini Lucky Charms Plug. It went 4 times. Our other cores had Mini Pink Dot & Natural Glows on them. The action slowed inside so we pulled and ran out to deeper water. Again, it was mostly our board rods with spoons that took fish. A 1 color with a SS Steelie Stomper went once. Port 2 color with a Double Orange Crush took a big Steelhead. It was 34 inches long and qualified for a Master Angler Award. Our 3’s & 5’s took fish with orange spoons. A 10 color went once with a Modified Coyote spoon. Starboard out down set at 45 with a pair of SS Chilly Willies took a Coho. Chute rigger down 110 with an 11″ White Slick Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly took a King. When we pulled lines, we found a couple small Coho dragging on our high lead cores. It was a beautiful morning, and our crew did a great job on the rods. We use Dreamweaver Deeper Divers, Dreamweaver Ninja Boards, Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs, and Morgan’s Tackle copper and wire.

It was a good early bite, but the action died early for us. Starboard 2 color core went 3 times with a Mini Captain’s Choice Pink Dot DW Plug. Port 3 color core went once with a Mini Lucky Charms DW Plug. Starboard 3 color went 3 times with a Salmon Slayer DW Plug. Port 5 color went 1 time with a Mini Wonder Bread DW Plug. Starboard 5 color core went 2 times with a Mini Natural Glow DW Plug. Port 7.5 color core went 1 time with the same plug. Port high Slide Diver went 4 times with a full-size Natural Glow DW Plug out 60 with a 60ft. lead. Port high Slide Diver went 1 time out 70 with a Mini Natural Glow DW Plug. Port low wire diver went 1 time out 45 with an 8″ White Slick Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly. Starboard low wire went once at 45 with a Soda DW Plug and once with a 10″ White UV Spin Doctor/Prototype DW Meat Rig. Starboard out down set at 18 went twice with a full-size Natural Glow DW Plug. The chute rigger set at 28 went once with an A-Bomb DW Plug. Our crew had a fun time fighting some nice Kings. We just wished we could have kept the bite going a little longer.
