Ludington Area Fishing Reports

Fished out front again this morning. The action for us was slower than yesterday morning. The water was a little warmer today. We took our first fish on our starboard 5 color core with a Mini Lucky Charms DW Plug. It went a couple more times during the trip. Port 2 color went once with the same plug. Port 5 color went twice with a Mini Pearl Zebra DW Plug. Starboard 2 color core went once with a Mini Glow Black Ladderback DW Plug. Starboard out down set at 23 went once with a SS Soda Spoon. Our chute rigger down 20 went once with a full-size Salmon Slayer Dreamweaver Captain’s Choice Cut Plug. Starboard high Ninja Diver went twice out 60 with a Mini Isotope DW Plug. Port high diver out 60 went twice with a Mini Glow Black Ladderback DW Plug. Starboard low wire diver out 35 went twice with an 8″ Black Slick Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly. Port low wire diver out 40 with an 8″ Kevin’s Girlfriend Spin Doctor/Green Crinkle Fly took our last fish, a Coho. We had a father and son team from Ohio on their first Salmon trip. They liked the fight from these Salmon and did a good job on the rods.

The buoy wave height read 3.4 ft. this morning when we left the dock. Rather than going out and fighting the waves we opted to fish close to home. Port 2 color core went once with a Mini Pink Dot DW Plug and once with a Gold Fireball. Starboard 2 color got sawed off by a boat. Port 3 color went 4 times with a Mini Lucky Charms DW Plug.  Starboard 1 color went once with a Mini Glow Green Black Ladderback Plug. Starboard 3 color went once with a Mini Glow Black Ladderback DW Plug. Starboard 5 color went once with a Mini Glow Blackadder DW Plug and once with a Mini Yellow Splatter DW Plug. Starboard 7.5 went once with a Mini Soda DW Plug. Port out down set at 25 went once with a Mini Salmon Slayer DW Plug and once with a set of spoons. Starboard out down set at 23 went once with a pair of SS Sodas.  Our chut rigger set at 28 went once with a full size DW Natural Glow Plug. Port high Ninja Diver out 55 went 4 times with an 8″ Kevin’s Girlfriend Spin Doctor/Green Crinkle Fly. Starboard high Ninja Diver out 65 went once with an 8″ White Rabbit Paddle/Glow Mirage Fly and once with an 8″ Closer Spin Doctor/Red Pepper Meat Rig. Port low wire diver out 45 went twice with a 10″ Dreamcatcher Spin Doctor/Ghost DW Meat Rig. Starboard low wire out 35 went twice with a 10″ Kevin’s Girlfriend Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine DW Meat Rig. Our crew had a great time, and we didn’t have to deal with rough seas.
