Finally fishing! Went for a shake down trip today. Went out last Wednesday for a shake down but had a couple issues and had to return back to port before we got a line in the water. It was all good today. Fishing has been very good the last couple days out of Ludington. We were eager to get out there and see if we could catch a few. We went north setting up in 150 feet of water. The surface temp was 46 degrees. It was 44 degrees down 50 feet on our Fish Hawk. First two rods in both went and we lost both of them. First was the chute rigger down 80 ft. with an 11″ White Slick Dreamweaver Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly. Second was an out down set at 60 feet. The chute rigger was our hot rod for the day. It went 6 times at 80 feet and once down 130 feet. Our wire divers were good. Starboard high wire out 225 went 4 times with an 8″ White Crush Light Green Scale Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly. Starboard low wire also went 4 times with an 8″ White Slick Dreamweaver Flip Fin Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly. The fin was deployed. Port low wire out 100 went twice with an 8″ White Crush Dark Green Scale Spin Doctor/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly. Port High wire went once out 250 with an 8″ Senica Special Spin Doctor/Liquid Sunshine Spin Doctor. Port out down set at 60 went 3 times with a mag glow spoon. Our best troll was Norhtwest. We took it out to 340 feet before we turned back on a southeast troll. The only reason we turned was because the surface temp was cooling and when it reached 44 degrees we quit hitting fish. We only took 2 fish on the in troll. They were both small Kings. All together we landed 5 small Kings. We threw back one that was not injured but kept four that weren’t going to make it. We only boated about 50 percent of our bites. Fishing is good right now. The Kings showed up early. We have lots of open dates this month and very little booked the next two weeks. Give us a call if you want to catch some of these spring Kings. We use Morgan’s Tackle copper and wire and pull lead cores and coppers with Dreamweaver Ninja Boards.
