Fishing was tough yesterday up north. The water warmed up and the fish weren’t biting. We headed offshore after our first pass down the bank only produced 1 bite and 1 fish. We worked between 220 & 400 feet of water (fow) and managed to scratch out a decent catch. We fished deep water the last two afternoons and caught a mixed bag of fish. Today we fished north of the harbor starting out inside and working our way out deep. It was a slow start. We hit our first fish on a low wire diver out 80 on a 10″ Kevin’s Girlfriend Spin Doctor/Green Mile Big Water Meat Rig. Our 2nd bite didn’t come until sunrise. We worked our way out to deeper water and starting hitting some fish. Most of our fish came in the top 50 feet. A Super Slim Steelie Dan on a 3 color went twice. A regular size DW Double Orange Pearl on a 5 color was good. We had a 8″ Chrome Kevorkian Spin Doctor/Green Mile Dreamweaver Meat Rig on a 10 color core and on a high wire diver out 110 both take fish. A 8″ Chrome Mountain Dew NBK Spin Doctor/Black UV Big Water Rig on a 200 copper went twice. The same combo only with a 10″ Spin Doctor on a low wire out 85 on a low wire diver took our biggest Coho. We took a few fish on plugs on our cores, but for us spoons & meat rigs were the ticket today. We use Dreamweaver Premium Strips in all our meat rigs..
