Felt good to be back out on the water. We fished south of Ludington this morning setting up in 140 feet of water. The surface temp was 46 degrees and 70 down it was 43 on our Fich Hawk. We put it on a 230 troll and set lines. We had 5 boards on each side, 1 high wire a side and 3 riggers. They were all set and no bites, not a good sign. It didn’t take to long and we were hooked up on a 200 copper with a Super Slim Soda. We doubled up with a Mag Fuzzy Bear Blue Slice. Our port high wire out 150 with a Stingray UV Pickle Seed went and our 250 copper went too. We were quad’ed up! We boated 3 out of the 4, all nice spring Kings. It was a fun morning with lots of action. Our coppers were definitely our best rods. We had some rigger action. An 11″ White Slick Dreamweaver Paddle/Pickled Sunshine Action Fly 70 down on our chute rigger went 3 times and a Mag Gold Green Shorts down 40 on an out down went twice. We only had 1 diver bite. Pictured below were our best baits. On top is the White Slick / Pickle rig. On the bottom left is a Mag Fuzzy Bear Blue Slice. We had it on a 300 and 325 copper. Next is a Super Slim Blue Slice. It went 3 times on a 275 copper. Next is a Super Slim Soda. It was going on a 200 copper and last but not least is a Lance’s Two Face Super Slim. All the Super Slims are new for 2023. We made it out to 210 feet of water before we turned back north. The Lake was flat clam, the sun was shining, and the fish were biting. It doesn’t get much better than that. We use Morgan’s Tackle copper and wire.
